Do you need our help?

Many times a year, the service staff at Totally Tankless arrives on a tankless water heater service call to find that the problem was a simple fix that the owners could have resolved.

If you have a gas fired tankless water heater, and its not working properly, check these things before calling us:

  • Does the tankless water heater have power? Tankless water heaters require power to operate so make sure your unit has power.
  • Does you have gas? Whether you have propane, or natural gas, make sure your tankless water heater has a gas supply, and the manual gas shut-off on the unit is "ON".
  • If your tankless unit is vented through the wall, is the vent clear and free of ice, snow, or debris.
  • Newer condensing tankless water heaters produce water as a by=product of combustion that needs to be properly drained away from the unit and vent system. If you have a condensing tankless unit, make sure the condensate drain is clear and working properly.
  • Do you have a minimum flow rate of hot water? Most tankless units require a hot water flow rate of between 0.2 and 0.5 gallons / minute to turn on. Make sure the flow rate through your water heater is high enough to initial operation.
